Aston argues that ancient inscriptions attesting the Arabian tribal name NHM, its continuing location, and an eastward route toward fertile coastal Oman form a geographical convergence with Nephi’s account of Nahom and Bountiful. He treats the conjunction of name, chronology, and route as significant, rather than identifying Nahom from phonetic similarity alone.

the rare name of NHM still exists today and is now firmly documented back through the centuries to before Nephi’s day.
